Pilates with Zelda

Hello I’m Zelda, a Bristol based, qualified level three Pilates instructor and therapist. I started practicing Pilates in 2006 and have been in love with the way that Pilates can change your relationship and connection to your body ever since.

As a teacher, I find great satisfaction in helping others feel physically and mentally better, gain strength, and find more bodily freedom in their everyday activities. My teaching style is fun, calm, encouraging, and as inclusive as possible. I want you to leave your sessions with me feeling like you have moved, stretched, challenged yourself, and above all, feeling good!

In addition to Pilates, I have had a long career in social care and therapeutic practice, having worked for the NHS, local authorities, and with adults, families, and children. One of my core values is the belief in every individual’s capacity for growth.

Mat Based Pilates
I run small, friendly group classes in St Werburgh’s, East Bristol. My classes are based on matwork principles and functional movement patterns. They are moderately paced and flowing, attendees often comment how quickly the sessions seem to pass! I use modifications and adaptations where necessary to meet you where your body needs to be.

These sessions are ideal if you are looking to learn the basics of Pilates, build confidence before joining a class or wanting to address a specific physical requirement. One to one sessions take place in your own home (Bristol and surrounds.) This can be a one off ‘learn the basics’ session or on-going sessions after we have established goals and built a focused plan to meet your individual needs.
Community Sessions
There’s no such thing as a ‘Pilates Body’. Pilates is for everybody. All the exercises can be adapted to suit your needs. I teach inclusive seated sessions for community groups. I currently teach to older clients and those who have experienced strokes.
Workplace
Sitting and standing for long hours in work takes its toll! Practicing Pilates will help release stress from the body, build strength, mobility, balance and improve your posture. These sessions can also incorporate guided breathing and meditation for stress relief, and body language postures for confidence. Perfect for supporting staff well being and building practical self care strategies into daily routine.
Sessions are suitable for all physical abilities, and they can be either desk or mat based depending on the space you have available. I currently run sessions for legal professionals and Local Authorities.

Friday's Attendee

"Zelda's Pilates class is a game-changer for me, banishing my menopausal stiffness and aches and helping me keep moving. I feel much stronger and my balance has improved a lot as well, I have surprised myself and am now able to do a (wobbly) side-plank. I have also gained 1cm in height! The class is friendly and non-competitive, with options being offered for those who can't do certain exercises. Thoroughly recommended!"

Tuesday's Attendee

Zelda’s classes are always engaging and different every week. They fly by, even after a long day at work. The level of challenge is pitched so that I progress and I can now do things that I couldn’t before. I look forward to each week’s class and the feeling of calm and connection with my body that I experience afterwards. She encourages you to listen to your body and go at your own pace and carefully adapts exercises to individual’s challenges. I would highly recommend her classes.
